Walking Humbly

Updated: Jun 11, 2020

There's so much going on in our world right now - it's easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged. But God promises that He is a just God and that He has a plan. I don't know about you guys, but hearing about the injustice and suffering makes me wonder, what would you have us do, O Lord?

Update: This month we celebrated Mason's 7th birthday and continued life in our little bubble: cooking, eating, schooling, working and playing all in a relatively small space. But with the death of George Floyd last week and God's call to us personally to start running toward Japan again, He lifts our eyes to His love and bigger plans for the world. I (Malia) have been wrestling with whether I should be taking bigger actions against racial injustice in our communities while I also feel God strongly pulling us toward Japan. Today I was reminded of what God asks of me:to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8). I feel His peace in praying for those who experience injustice daily and for the leadership of this country to make changes but that I may continue my focus on Japan and the injustices that break His heart there.

Praise: So many lives have been lost and turned upside down during this time of disease and quarantine but God is gracious and blessed our family with what we consider a bit of training. We have learned to stay connected through video and phone calls, more fully invest and disciple our children and enjoy each other's company, even after endless hours under one roof. All these were expected as part of our transition to Japan. Maybe now, our transition to Japan will be a little smoother than if COVID never existed.

Prayer: Through friends and mentors, Jeff and I have gotten a new lease on our partnership development process. God presses us forward and we are working to faithfully find new partners so that we may be sent near the end of this year or early 2021. Please pray that God would guide us in every step and that He would provide so that we may "discover" the remaining 47% of our financial support and prayer partners.

We would love to hear from you, whether it be to share your prayer requests or to schedule a Zoom meeting so we can catch up and share more details of our plans with you. Please know that we think of you and pray for you often.

Thanks and blessings,

The Walkers
