Pray for Japan - Day 3 - Visa Application

Thanks for embarking on this journey of 10 days of prayer for Japan with us! We know that God needs to be at the center of all we do. He is the reason we are going to Japan in the first place! We want to cover the nation of Japan in prayer. Although sometimes it's hard to ask for it ourselves, our family also needs prayer as we begin to make final preparations for our move to Japan.

"I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.' "

Psalm 91:2

For our third day, we'd like to humbly ask for prayer for our family's Certificate of Eligibility application for a visa with the Japanese government. It has been a huge praise that we have surpassed the 70% level of support threshold for our monthly budget that has allowed us to take this important and significant next step in this process. To all of our supporters--thank you! We absolutely could not be on this journey without you. We have begun to fill out the necessary paperwork for our visa application. As mentioned in our prayer email yesterday regarding the COVID-19 situation in Japan, the Tokyo area is in a state of emergency. As such, we will have to wait and see if we will be able to submit our visa application in February as planned. Once we've submitted our application, it could take 6-12 weeks for approval (although those numbers are pre-COVID). And once approved, we'll have 90 days to move to Japan.

  • Please pray for a smooth visa application process, that all the necessary documents and information will be gathered. Please also pray for the hard-working staff in Japan as they translate our application into Japanese.

  • Please pray for a quick turnaround with renewing Mason's passport. This was a slight oversight on my (Jeff's) part, as I had forgotten that Mason's passport had expired. Children's passports must be renewed in person, and many offices are closed right now due to COVID. Our only option is to renew at our local post office, and they are booked solid. Currently, Mason's passport appointment is set for February 11th.

  • Coupled with our prayers for COVID in Japan from yesterday, we pray that as the pandemic gets under control and the government opens up again, that they will be able to accept our visa application in February as planned.

  • Once submitted, we pray for God's provident timing in the approval process, that it will coincide with us nearing 100% monthly support raised in the coming months.
